NFL legend Tony Gonzalez believes Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets can go on a run and reach the playoffs.
The Jets have endured a difficult season thus far. Rodgers struggled to link up with his receivers during the early stages of the season, while the defense failed to live up to its billing after excelling in 2023.
Robert Saleh was fired as head coach, and the Jets completed a trade to pair Rodgers with Davante Adams. The exciting acquisition failed to pay immediate dividends; the AFC East franchise lost to both the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots before getting back to winning ways last week.

The Jets sealed a crucial victory over the Houston Texans on Thursday night. At 3-6, the franchise is on the outside of the playoff picture as it stands, but Gonzalez believes they can make the run.
When asked who he felt was going to make it to the playoffs in the AFC, Gonzalez left the Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime panel shocked and excited with his pick. He said: “AFC, I’m going to go with the Jets.”
He then expanded on his answer: “We saw them last week, we saw some chemistry in that second half, the way that Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams are starting to get back. It takes time, when you break up with somebody and you get back together… it takes time for that chemistry to get back. Garret Wilson too, he is coming on strong.”
Gonzalez continued: “Sometimes it just takes time, but the Jets right now, do not count (out) Aaron Rodgers – Hall of Famer – they can make a run.”

It is not the first time Gonzalez has made a bold declaration concerning the Jets this season. Last month, the legendary tight end insisted the Adams trade catapulted the Jets into Super Bowl contention.
“Davante plus Aaron is legendary for all the reasons that you guys talked about,” the 48-year-old began. “I think it’s going to work out great; this changes everything. But I will say this: The pressure has fallen now, it’s on ‘Mr. Relax,’ Mr. Aaron Rodgers.
“Because if I’m Woody Johnson, I’m saying, ‘Hey, I did everything you wanted. Since the beginning, I did everything you ever wanted Aaron. And now, I went out and got Davante Adams.’ And so there is no more excuses.”
He added: “To me, this is what we thought the Jets could be at the beginning of the year. Meaning, that they could be a Super Bowl-caliber team right now.”
The Jets travel to face the 5-4 Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 10.
