The Hollywood takeover of Wrexham AFC by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney has been a resounding success in recent years.

The Red Dragons, under the guidance of Phil Parkinson, have achieved consecutive promotions and currently hold third place in League One. In addition to their soccer achievements, the acting duo has made significant investments in the local community, recently acquiring a majority stake in the Wrexham Lager brewery.

Their success has caught the attention of other celebrities, including Snoop Dogg, who expressed his desire to invest in Scottish Premiership side Celtic after being inspired by Reynolds and McElhenney’s exploits at Wrexham. Gambling.com has even created betting odds on which celebrities might follow suit.

It is suggested rapper A$AP Rocky, currently dating Rihanna, is the frontrunner to join the ranks of celebrity soccer club owners. This speculation comes after reports that he is part of an investment group interested in buying an 80 percent stake in League Two side Tranmere Rovers.

Numerous other U.S. celebrities have already ventured into soccer investment in the MLS and Mexico’s Liga MX. Natalie Portman owns women’s football team Angel City FC, along with celebrity friends America Ferrera, Mia Hamm, Sophia Bush, Abby Wambach, and Eva Longoria.

It’s suggested that their combined knowledge of the sport and financial resources could lead this group to consider a similar investment opportunity across the Atlantic, reports Wales Online. Mark Wahlberg, Robbie Williams, and Hugh Jackman, who starred with Reynolds in Deadpool and Wolverine, are also closely tied to sports investments or have a deep love for the game.

Former Take That member Williams has been rumored to buy his childhood club Port Vale multiple times. Meanwhile, Jackman, an avid Norwich City fan, has been seen at Wrexham games alongside Reynolds.

Wahlberg, who has invested in a Caribbean cricket team, could be next if he decides to expand his portfolio with an English soccer club. Other celebrity soccer investors include Matthew McConaughey at Austin FC, Drew Carey at Seattle Sounders FC, and Kate Upton at Club Necaxa.

Gambling.com has also investigated which clubs in the English soccer pyramid would be most appealing to celebrity investors. They took into account factors such as fanbase size, stadium size, location, and historical significance.

Tranmere are the odds-on favorites at 1/3 in the market after reports linked them with A$AP Rocky. However, other clubs like Reading (2/1), Charlton Athletic (3/1), and Bradford City (4/1) are considered attractive to celebrities looking to invest.

All three clubs have played in the Premier League, have a large fan base, and are located in or near cities. Other contenders include Milton Keynes Dons (6/1), Port Vale (8/1), Wigan Athletic (10/1), Oldham Athletic (12/1), Notts County (14/1), Rochdale (16/1) and Bolton Wanderers (20/1).

Given the rapid progress made by Reynolds and McElhenney at an EFL club that was previously struggling, it may only be a matter of time before others follow suit.
