On Saturday, ESPN analyst Jason Kelce smashed a fan’s phone after a slur was hurled in his direction while working ‘College Gameday’ on Penn State’s campus.

The former NFL star joined the network after a 14-year playing career with the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite his recent infraction being caught on camera, ESPN will not discipline their newest signing. Penn State Police are still investigating the situation.

A Penn State fan appeared to yell, “Kelce! How does it feel that your brother’s a ****** for dating Taylor Swift?” Jason Kelce’s brother Kelce is dating 14-time Grammy award-winning singer Taylor Swift.

The 38-year-old Kelce took the fan’s phone and promptly spiked it on the ground, reportedly shouting back “who’s the ****** now?”

Kelce discussed the incident on the next episode of his ‘New Heights’ podcast with his brother Travis. He said: “Everybody’s seen on social media everything that took place this week. Listen, I’m not happy with anything that took place.

“I’m not proud of it. In a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate, and I just don’t think that that’s a productive thing. Bottom line is, I try to live my life by the Golden Rule … treat people with common decency and respect. I’m going to keep doing that moving forward, even though I fell short this week.”

His next public appearance came just two days later on ESPN’s ‘Monday Night Football” coverage of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs – a game Taylor Swift was in attendance for to support Travis Kelce.

Jason Kelce took the opportunity to address the situation. “I think everybody has seen on social media what happened this week,’ he prefaced. “Listen, I’m not happy with anything that took place. I’m not proud of it.”

“And in a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate, and I just don’t think that’s a productive thing. I really don’t,” Kelce continued. “I don’t think it leads to discourse, and [don’t think] it’s the right way to go about things. In that moment, I fell down to a level that I shouldn’t have.

“I think the bottom line is, I try to live my life by the golden rule. It’s what I’ve always been taught. I try to treat people with common decency and respect, even though I fell short this week. I’m going to do that moving forward and continue to do that.”

Kelce’s actions have drawn mixed reactions online. Some critiqued the ESPN analyst for using homophobic language, and other commended him for standing up for his brother.

Kansas City mayor Quinton Lucas took to X to applaud Kelce. “I shouldn’t say, but whatever. I appreciate Jason Kelce standing up for his family.”

Meanwhile. Barstool CEO Dave Portnoy tweeted “The only thing Kelce should have apologized for is maybe using the F word. But anybody with a brain knows he was just repeating what was said to him. If he called him a […], […], […] that woulda been the word he used.”

Portnoy continued: “Golden rule was applied perfectly. He treated that guy exactly how he deserved to be treated.
