Patrick Mahomes swerved the political controversy surrounding his family by sending a message to his son Bronze ahead of ‘Monday Night Football’.

Mahomes’ mom Randi hit the headlines ahead of Monday’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers by coming out in support of Donald Trump, with Tuesday’s United States Presidential Election looming. Ex-President Trump is seeking re-election in a direct face-off with the current Vice President Kamala Harris.

This election is anticipated to be nail-bitingly close, as polls show neck and neck standings between Trump and Harris. In a passionate display of political allegiance, Randi made her stance clear by endorsing Trump in an Outkick video on social media.

Donning a ‘Make America Great Again’ cap, Randi enthusiastically pronounces in the video: “Make America Great Again! Let’s do it! Wooooooo!”

After Randi’s public statement, all eyes were on her son ahead of Monday’s game. But he instead decided to send a message to Bronze by looking right into the camera. Mahomes said: “I’ll say goodnight to Bronze this time, I’ll try to score you a touchdown.”

Monday isn’t the first time a member of the Mahomes family has shown support to Trump. The quarterback’s wife Brittany famously interacted with an Instagram post favoring Trump, only to retract the like afterwards.

Trump took to his Truth Social platform to express gratitude, stating: “I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me.”

The impact of Brittany’s online gesture prompted journalists to press Mahomes for his personal take on the looming election. Addressing the matter back in September, he remarked: “I don’t want my place and my platform to be used to endorse a candidate or do whatever, either way.

“I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote. It’s to inform people to do their own research and then make the best decision for them and their family.”

When asked about Trump’s remarks concerning his spouse, Mahomes replied: “At the end of the day, it’s about me and my family and how we treat other people.”

The Chiefs quarterback added: “I think you see Brittany does a lot in the community. I do a lot in the community to help bring people up, and give people an opportunity to use their voice. In political times people are going to use stuff here and there, but I can’t let that affect how I go about my business every single day of my life, and trying to live it to the best of my ability.”

This controversy also has potential repercussions involving pop star Taylor Swift, a fervent backer of Harris and girlfriend of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Swift confirmed her plan to vote for Harris with a lengthy post on Instagram in September.
