The Las Vegas Raiders have announced the firing of three coaches Luke Getsy, James Cregg, and Rich Scangarello in a brutal response to their 41-24 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

The Raiders’ rough start to the NFL season continued over the weekend after they fell to their fifth defeat on the bounce in Cincinnati. Prior to their trip to Paycor Stadium, the Vegas franchise had been defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Denver Broncos.

This poor run has left them rock-bottom of both the American Football Conference and AFC West Division standings after nine games, having won just twice so far this season.

And the defeat on Sunday appeared to be the final straw for franchise bosses, who chose to relieve the duties of three coaches just hours after the loss. Offensive coordinator, Getsy was fired alongside offensive line coach, Cregg and quarterback coach Scangarello.

The announcement of the firing was made in a short statement on social media. “We have relieved Luke Getsy, James Cregg, and Rich Scangarello of their duties with the Las Vegas Raiders,” read a post from the Raiders’ official X (formerly Twitter) account.

Despite the tough run, head coach Antonio Pierce remains in post, but there is no doubt pressure is growing on the man in charge. Speaking to the media afterward on Sunday, Pierce was clearly unimpressed with the performance but is looking to reset his team with the upcoming bye week.

“Today was not a good day at the office,” he told reporters. “We have got the bye week to reset where we can look at everything, and when I say everything, everything… That was not a good enough effort the score will tell you that, the entire game, maybe except the first quarter.

“Again we will have to reset over the bye week. We have enough time for it, and we can really, really dive into what we can do to fix this because it can’t continue.” This reset of course started straight after defeat No. 7, with a reshuffle in his coaching department.

With some time away from the action to delve into their ongoing problems, Pierce claimed it is on every team member to help turn the tide. “We got to reset and that goes for all of us,” he added. “It is a group effort, a team effort. We have all got to find a way to do better. From coaches, to play caller, to player… we can all do a much better job.” After a week off, the Raiders will return on Nov. 17 at the Miami Dolphins.
