Tiger Woods’ apparel brand Sun Day Red has faced more criticism from golf fans after a new drop on their website saw a fairly simple-looking ball marker priced at an eye-watering $50.
Woods, who became one of the most recognized Nike athletes in sport, opted to part ways with the iconic swoosh earlier this year, ending a relationship of over 27 years. After ditching Nike, Woods created his own personal brand, which was unveiled ahead of the Genesis Invitational in March.
Aptly named Sun Day Red, the branding was a nod to Woods’ iconic red shirt worn on championship Sundays, with the logo a Tiger made up of 15 tiger stripes – outlining his 15 major championship victories.

Following its launch earlier this year, golf fans have been able to kit themselves out in Sun Day Red gear, ranging from polo shirts to hats. Now Woods’ brand has released a ball marker for players wanting to own their own piece of Sun Day Red kit, but it has not gone down well with fans.
Priced at a whopping $50, golfers have been left gobsmacked, slamming Woods and co on social media. “That’s 2 hours of work for middle-class golfers to mark their ball. Surely you can’t be serious?” one tweeted before another added: “$50…. what else does it do?”
The criticism did not stop there, with most fans claiming the quarter or penny they use to mark their ball on the greens works just fine, and saves them the $50 fee. “A quarter works great for me. Hard pass on this one,” one X user posted, as a second wrote: “The $0.25 piece in my cupholder does pretty well.”

Woods is of course one of the most popular players on the planet, having announced himself as an all-time great during his career, but even some of his biggest fans have been left unimpressed. “Love Tiger, but hard pass for me,” another X user wrote on social media.
“50 bucks for something like that – he’s taking the proverbial. I’ve got huge respect for what he did in the game of golf, but Tiger’s got issues with what he wants his legacy to be,” added another. This is not the first time both Woods and Sun Day Red have faced criticism from fans.
In September, the brand released a new line named ‘Cashmere Collection’ which was worn by Woods during this year’s PGA Championship. The 3D Tour Cashmere Vest – the design worn by Woods at Valhalla – was listed at $300, whilst the sweatshirt comes in at $350.
The line’s 3D Tour hoodie then came in even higher, after a whopping $375 price tag was slapped on it. A slightly cheaper crew sweatshirt will set back golf fans $300, whilst the quarter zip costs $350.
