During a bonus episode of his and Travis Kelce‘s podcast, which aired via Wondery+ on Thursday, October 31, a fan called in for advice about how to set a boundary in their relationship. “My husband is always on his phone,” the caller said, explaining that it happens regardless of whether they’re at home or out with friends. “So my question for you is, do you know anyone who does this and have you ever approached them [about it]?”
The fan then joked, “I don’t mind when he’s on his phone, but at the same time, I like eye contact.”
Travis, 35, replied that the caller “should mind” before Jason, 36, made a candid confession about how a similar situation impacts him and his wife, Kylie Kelce.

“I am terrible, I can get so lost in my phone,” he admitted. “Kylie’s called me on this multiple times. I think that, speaking as someone that does do this too much, let your husband or the person you’re in a relationship [with] know that they’re doing this. Because nine times out of 10, they don’t know that they’re [on] their phone as much as they are.”
Jason, who retired from the NFL earlier this year, pointed out that “everyone understands what it’s like” to be around someone who’s too distracted by their phone. “You’re trying to be present with somebody and they’re not there,” he continued. “I have a big issue with this. … I can be here and not hear anything, I have that ability.”
Travis also confessed that he’s prone to falling down a rabbit hole while using his phone. “You have to be aware of how much you’re [on] your phone and you’re not in this world. Because whenever I go on my phone for a long period of time, I am not anywhere in the room,” he joked. “I am in that f—ing phone, looking through Reels, looking at Twitter, looking at everything on the f—ing phone … searching f—ing random dumbass facts about the f—ing theory of relativity.”
For the Kansas City Chiefs athlete, the most important thing is being “aware” of screen time. “But also, you have to understand that this doesn’t mean just no [using your] phone,” he said, explaining that a person can be “doing important stuff sometimes” instead of just playing games.
Jason agreed that phone time can be a “release” after a long day. “Sometimes it’s like, ‘I need to think about nothing but making these three red things line up, that’s all I want to focus on,’” he said before poking fun at a different caller from earlier in the episode who asked how to get over a dry spell in his 𝓈ℯ𝓍 life. “‘I was just thinking about problem solving, kids, what are we having for dinner, what’s happening in my life. My wife won’t have 𝓈ℯ𝓍 with me, so I gotta think more about these three lines lining up.’”

The brothers encouraged the caller to have “an open and honest discussion” about their concerns. “You guys should be able to come to an agreement that when we’re in certain settings, we’re not gonna have the phone out,” Jason said.
Travis chimed in to add that relationships are “a two-way street,” saying, “There’s gotta be a happy medium, you can’t go too extreme on this one.”
The Kelce brothers have spoken candidly about their personal lives on “New Heights” since launching the podcast in 2022. Kylie, who’s been married to Jason since 2018, has made multiple appearances on the show — and fans are eagerly waiting for the day Travis’ girlfriend, Taylor Swift, does the same.
While she hasn’t been featured as an official guest, the 34-year-old pop star is frequently name-dropped by both Travis and Jason. In December 2023, Swift confirmed “New Heights” played a big role in her love story with the tight end.
“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she told TIME Magazine, referring to the July 2023 episode in which Travis revealed he tried to give Swift his phone number on a friendship bracelet at an Eras Tour show in Kansas City. “We started hanging out right after that.”
