LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau has revealed that he is potentially planning to head to India to compete alongside his Crushers teammates on the Asian Tour in 2025.

With the prospect having first been mooted by teammate Anirban Lahiri, the two-time major champion is expected to play at the International Series event in late January. DLF Golf & Country Club in Gurgaon will likely be the venue, with the pair purportedly set to be joined by Paul Casey and Charles Howell III.

That is according to DeChambeau himself, who made the revelation to the Hindustan Times. While an official announcement has not yet been forthcoming, this would represent the first time India has staged the International Series with the purse set to be in the region of $2 million.

Likely to take place between January 30 to February 2, the event will give players an opportunity to hone their skills before the 2025 LIV season begins in Riyadh. Speaking about potentially appearing in India, DeChambeau told the above report: “I am aware that Baan is going to be involved, and we have had a few talks about i.

“It will be a very important week for him. I will support him fully, and if everything works out, I am extremely excited about the opportunity to play in India. I have never been there, but it’s a country that has fascinated me. I have always loved being a global player and I greatly enjoy playing in as many countries as possible.”

Meanwhile, his LIV teammate Lahiri appears confident that deals will be struck to finalize DeChambeau taking part in the event in the new year. Speaking about the current state of play, he said: “I think we are almost there. There are just a few minor things on which we have to dot the i’s and cross the t’s.

“But yes, I think it will be massive for Indian golf fans if Bryson is there. Single-handedly, with what he does on the golf course and outside it through his social media channels and his interaction with fans, he has brought millions of new fans to our sport. I think we can all agree he is the most popular golfer in the world right now.”

Elsewhere, fellow LIV ace Cam Smith has also called for a links event to be established in the future for breakaway stars to give them the best chance of success at The Open moving forward. He said: “I don’t know if it’ll happen next year but definitely in the future, it’s something that we want to do,

Recalling his preparations for the tournament at LIV Golf Valderrama, he admitted: “It was really hot, the ball was going a long way up in altitude, and then getting on to links where it’s quite cold and windy, it’s probably not the best prep.”
