Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has revealed he didn’t actually play golf with former president Barack Obama even when he recently had the chance to do so.

Hurts, alongside teammate Saquon Barkley and owner Jeffrey Lurie, were part of a one-of-a-kind four-ball with Obama on October 29. Hurts didn’t actually get to play, though  and it’s all because of the intricacies of his Philly contract.

The quarterback refused to shed more light this week when talking to reporters about the contract stipulation, confirming he simply walked the course. However, Hurts said, he absorbed the conversation and also couldn’t help but trash-talk the 44th president of the United States.

“[He’s] kinda like an uncle figure out there, President Obama,” Hurts said. “All-time leader, and a great presence. Down to Earth. Can only imagine that lifestyle and the different things that come with that, but nonetheless to see him out there enjoying himself, talking a little trash, that was cool.”

Hurts said he couldn’t help but needle Obama. “I told him he don’t want these problems just yet,” which was a reference to the fact he was walking the course, rather than playing  and that if he were playing, it would be bad news for the 63-year-old.

It’s possible Obama has improved since 201, when he told CNN what his handicap was at that time, together with his strengths and weaknesses on the course. The former president said he was “an honest 13,” meaning if the par on a course was 72, his potential indicates he’d return a card of 85, which is 13 over par.

“I think my irons are good, my drive is straight but unimpressive in length, and my puttings decent,” Obama said eight years ago. “Chipping is OK. My sand game is terrible.”

So, unless Obama has improved, maybe Hurts has a shot at beating him if his own golf game is as good as his trash talk. His only problem seems to be the fact that the Eagles pretty much banned him from playing. “By contract, I can’t golf,” he said.

“But his day will come. It’s still not the time to tell the story, but it’s a simple yes,” he added before saying the only person left on his bucket list of celebrities to meet is a legendary Hollywood actor. “It’s a blessing, establishing a handful of individuals I’d love to meet, and be complete after that. I’ve met some, lost some. The only one left is Denzil Washington.

“I got a lot of respect for those guys. It’s always been fruitful conversation.”
