Netflix announced Tuesday the five NBA players who will be featured in the second season of the popular Starting 5 docuseries.

Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant, Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton and Los Angeles Clippers guard James Harden were revealed as the Season 2 stars on the heels of the successful launch of Starting 5 this month.

Season 1 of Starting 5 launched on Netflix on Oct. 9, and it gave fans an inside look at what players go through over the course of the long and grueling NBA season.

LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat, Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Domantas Sabonis of the Sacramento Kings and Jayson Tatum of the Celtics made up the Season 1 cast of Starting 5.

All five of the aforementioned players were followed throughout the 2023-24 NBA season in a manner similar to other popular Netflix sports docuseries such as Quarterback and Wide Receiver.

That was almost certainly by design since Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions was involved in all of those projects.

Season 2 of Starting 5 will almost certainly be set during the 2024-25 NBA season, and while no premiere date has been announced, an October 2025 release would make sense.

The first season of Starting 5 gave fans a little bit of everything, as Tatum’s Celtics won the NBA championship, Edwards’ Timberwolves reached the Western Conference Finals, James and Butler had early playoff exits and Sabonis missed the playoffs.

Season 2 could have a similar mix since Brown’s Celtics and Gilgeous-Alexander’s Thunder are strong title contenders, Durant’s Suns and Haliburton’s Pacers are likely playoff teams and Harden’s Clippers could struggle to reach the postseason with Kawhi Leonard out injured.

Since the 2024-25 season will end in June once the NBA Finals conclude, it will likely take a few months for the production team to piece everything together into a 10-episode season.

With that in mind, look for Season 2 of Starting 5 to help usher in the start of the 2025-26 season much like Season 1 did for the 2024-25 campaign.
