The New York Jets’ nightmare season went from bad to worse this past weekend after losing to the struggling New England Patriots, with Aaron Rodgers being brutally criticized by Shannon Sharpe.
The Patriots had just one win coming into the game with the Jets being the favorite to win, but had failed to stop back-up quarterback Jacoby Brissett driving down the field for a score to take the lead before Rodgers and the offense were unable to reply and came up short.
The loss sees them fall to a 2-6 record after initially starting with a 2-1 record – losing five games straight – while having the worst record in the AFC after they team fired head coach Robert Saleh three weeks ago.

Firing Saleh and placing defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich in his place has not appeared to work, while the Jets had also reassigned offensive playcaller Nathaniel Hackett to a lesser position with quarterbacks coach Todd Downing instead calling the plays.
The Jets have already been told that they are ‘all out of moves’, with Sharpe having some harsh words for the 40-year-old quarterback.
Speaking on ESPN’s First Take, Sharpe said: “It couldn’t happen to a more smug, cavalier, condescending guy. Who else you gonna blame it on? You’re running out of people to fire and demote. You fired Robert Saleh, are you going to fire (Jeff) Ulbrich now, the interim coach?
“You demoted Hackett. What you going to do, demote the new offensive coordinator? Who else are you going to trade for? Who else you going to bring in?”

A controversial personality over the last few years, Rodgers has been criticized for his approach to the game – spending time away from the Jets in preseason to travel to Egypt while not being afraid to openly call out his own teammates.
The Jets have made a number of moves which will feel to have been instigated by Rodgers, including signing three of his former Green Bay Packers’ receivers in Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb while trading for Davante Adams earlier this month.
The team now looks to be a huge longshot to make the playoffs – likely needing to win at least seven of their last nine games to even have a chance.
