Los Angeles superstar LeBron James showed no mercy for son Bronny during a practice drill – as the veteran NBA great dribbled past him before scoring a slam dunk.
The pair have earned a unique place in the league’s history, becoming its first ever father-son duo in the first clash of the new season versus Minnesota Timberwolves. In front of a capacity crowd at Crypto.com Arena, they played three minutes together in the 110-103 win after entering proceedings together in the second quarter.
That brief first half foray came after LeBron issued some heartfelt advice to his boy before they checked into the game in a moving moment. Eventually, the 20-year-old missed all of his field-goal attempts but was able to grab an offensive rebound during his brief cameo.

However, it is clear that LeBron does not go easy on Bronny when it comes to practice, as he showed no favoritism during a guards vs. bigs drill. In a video which has since gone viral on Twitter/X, the NBA’s all-time top scorer span past his son before dispatching a slam dunk – as he was mobbed by his teammates.
It is clear that the four-time NBA champion is eager to bring his son up to speed in these early weeks of the campaign, having previously offered some words of wisdom prior to their appearance versus the Timberwolves. He told Bronny: “Y’all ready? You see the intensity, right? Just play carefree, though. Don’t worry about mistakes. Just go out and play hard.”
Reflecting on an emotional moment as they shared the court in the season opener, LeBron later recalled: “That moment, us being at the scorer’s table together and checking in together, it’s a moment I’m never going to forget. No matter how old I get, no matter how my memory may fade as I get older or whatever, I will never forget that moment.”

“So to be able to have this moment, where I’m working still, and I can work alongside my son, it’s one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever gotten from the man above and I’m gonna take full advantage of it.”
Offering up some more advice to Bronny after he made his NBA debut, LeBron also told TNT: “This is not promised every day that you get an opportunity to play in this beautiful league.
“There’s only 450 of us. Understand it’s not given to you. You got to earn every moment,” he continued, as he offered more advice to his boy. “He knows that and he’s looking forward to the process of getting better and better every single day to be the player he ultimately wants to be. ‘I’m super proud of him. He’s my lifeline, that’s for sure.”
Likewise, Bronny added: “[I] tried not to focus on everything that’s going on around me, and tried to focus on going in as a rookie and not trying to mess up. But yeah, I totally did feel the energy, and I appreciate Laker Nation for showing the support for me and my dad.”
