Mike Tyson is proving to boxing fans that he still possesses the scary knockout power that’s led to 44 devastating knockouts in his professional career. In preparation for an upcoming match against Jake Paul, new training footage saw Tyson knock his sparring partner through the ropes with his trademark lunging hook.
Tyson posted training footage early Monday morning with the caption, “I’m just getting started,” followed by the official social hashtag for the fight to promote the Netflix exclusive live stream on Nov. 15 at AT&T Stadium. The 30-second clip showed Tyson battering his sparring partner with a flurry of alternating body-to-head vicious hooks.
Tyson’s relentless intensity showed a glance of the raw power that once earned him the nickname of the “baddest man on the planet.” After landing five brutal hooks to his sparring partner’s body, Tyson followed up with a devastating left hook to the headgear, trapping his opponent in the corner with nowhere to retreat.

The sheer force of the punch sent his sparring partner stumbling backward, crashing through the ropes. Even in the heat of the moment, Tyson showed restraint, carefully guiding him to the ground to prevent injury. Tyson’s trainer Rafael Cordeiro watched the action unfold from the sidelines, witnessing enough to call it a day. “That’s good for today,” he said in the video after a clear punishing round. Tyson had enough energy to continue yelling, “Are you sure?” three times.
“I got a lot in me. I’m just getting started,” he continued. Despite being removed from professional boxing for 19 years, some fans were convinced that the new footage should raise concern for the heavily favored Paul.
One boxing fan on X wrote, “That boy better run,” after getting a fresh look at Tyson’s power and hearing the impact of the punches. Another fan wrote, “The king is back,” following up their claim with a first-round knockout prediction.

Prior to the footage’s release, concerns were mounting about Tyson’s health and ability to perform at a high level, especially considering his age. At 58, Tyson faces an uphill battle against a much younger opponent in Paul, who is 31 years younger.
Tyson’s training footage showed flashes of his old self, but it hasn’t completely eased fans’ and experts’ concerns about the toll a fight could take on his body. Given Tyson’s health history, many still question if the fight should have ever been sanctioned.
The original fight date was set for July 20 but was postponed due to a health issue where Tyson endured stomach ulcers before boarding a flight. The incident and photos surfacing online with Tyson using assisted walking devices fueled skepticism concerning his readiness for fight night.
