One of the Los Angeles Chargers’ most passionate and well-known fans, Merrianne Do, made her return to the spotlight during Monday night’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. Known for her infectious enthusiasm and wild celebrations, Do once again stole the show as cameras caught her in the midst of an energetic moment while cheering on her team.
Do first captured national attention last season when she went viral during a Chargers game against the Dallas Cowboys. In that game, the Chargers mounted a thrilling comeback to tie the score 17-17, and Do’s ecstatic reaction, screaming in joy, became an instant hit. Although the Chargers ultimately lost that game in overtime, Do’s over-the-top energy made her a beloved figure among Chargers fans and football enthusiasts alike.
Fast forward to Monday night, and the cameras once again found her in the crowd. This time, Do was in Arizona as her Chargers took on the Cardinals in a nail-biting showdown. Despite the Chargers narrowly losing the game 17-15, Do’s spirited support was on full display. ESPN even acknowledged her presence by tweeting, “The viral Chargers superfan is back,” after capturing one of her animated celebrations during a high point in the game.
Before the game, Do appeared on KCAL News, where she excitedly talked about the atmosphere in Arizona. “There are so many Chargers fans here, it is so loud. Let’s go, it’s amazing!” she said, beaming with excitement. Reflecting on her journey as a fan, she added, “I do have to pinch myself, every journey has its struggle. We are here to win, you cannot contain the vibe right now!”

Do’s rise to fame hasn’t been without its challenges. Last season, she was called an “industry plant” by New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who jokingly suggested that her over-the-top fandom was staged.
Do, however, silenced her critics by appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, where she made it clear that her passion for the Chargers is 100% authentic. “I wish I was getting paid!” she laughed in response to Rodgers’ comment. “But this is me, guys—a crazy mom of four, crazy Chargers fan, and a crazy football fan.”
She further explained how her intense love for the game is nothing new to those who know her. “All the moms text me asking, ‘Why are people saying you are a fake? This is how you are!’ I guess my poor kids have to deal with this every day, but now it’s crazy that the world thinks this is different because my kids have dealt with this their whole lives.”
Do, who describes herself as someone who wears her heart on her sleeve, shared that her love for football has been a lifelong passion. “I’ve been a football fan for as long as I can remember, and I’m passionate about it,” she said. “I was excited during the game, I was elated, my heart was just bursting. I’ve been a Chargers fan ever since I moved to California over 20 years ago.”
Despite the Chargers’ 17-15 loss to the Cardinals, which brought their season record to 3-3, Do remains unwavering in her support. Her passionate energy is something that has resonated deeply with the Chargers community, and she continues to be a source of inspiration and excitement for the fan base.
The Chargers will return to SoFi Stadium this Sunday, where they will face off against the New Orleans Saints.
