The highly anticipated TGL, a state-of-the-art simulator golf league spearheaded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, is set to launch in January after a year-long delay. However, fans eager to see Woods and McIlroy in action will have to wait a little longer, as the two golf icons won’t compete until the fourth week of the season. Their respective teams, Jupiter Links Golf Club and Boston Common Golf Club, are slated to face off on January 27.

The league, which announced its full schedule on Monday, will officially kick off on January 7. TGL’s inaugural season will feature 15 regular-season matches, culminating in a four-team semifinal round. The top two teams from the semifinals will go head-to-head in a two-day championship match for the SoFi Cup, scheduled for March 24-25.

TGL promises to bring a new level of excitement to golf fans by broadcasting every shot live. The first seven weeks of the season will air on ESPN, with later matches shifting to ESPN2 and ESPN+. The fast-paced format will see each match contested indoors at a cutting-edge facility in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Matches are scheduled primarily in prime-time slots on Mondays and Tuesdays, running approximately two hours. Each match will feature three of the four players from each team, offering a condensed yet action-packed viewing experience.

The season opener on January 7 at 9 p.m. ET will pit New York Golf Club against Bay Golf Club. New York will be represented by Xander Schauffele, Matt Fitzpatrick, Rickie Fowler, and Cameron Young, while Bay Golf Club will field Ludvig Aberg, Wyndham Clark, Min Woo Lee, and Shane Lowry.

Fans will have to wait a few weeks to see Woods and McIlroy take the stage. McIlroy’s Boston Common team, which includes Keegan Bradley, Adam Scott, and Hideki Matsuyama, will face off against Woods’s Jupiter Links Golf Club, featuring Max Homa, Tom Kim, and Kevin Kisner, on January 27 in what is expected to be one of the most-watched matchups of the season.

The TGL league is designed to merge the worlds of technology and golf, creating an immersive and dynamic experience. Each match will be played in an indoor simulator arena, combining physical golf shots with virtual environments that display realistic course layouts.

With top talent, innovative technology, and an ambitious broadcast schedule, the league is poised to captivate both traditional golf enthusiasts and new fans alike.

As the league debuts, Woods and McIlroy’s involvement, both as founders and competitors, will undoubtedly draw significant attention, adding to the excitement of a groundbreaking new chapter in professional golf.

With their late-January showdown, golf fans can look forward to an epic battle between two of the sport’s biggest stars, setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling inaugural season.
