Angel Reese has revealed her bold plans to own a basketball team as the rookie sensation discussed her investment plans.
After starring for the Chicago Sky in a ground-breaking and record-smashing rookie season in the WNBA, Reese already has eyes elsewhere. She recently spoke to the WSJ about the best money advice she ever had.
“I grew up with a single mom, so she really made me really independent,” she revealed. “My mom does not play by my money, checking my accounts, double-checking my accounts, not spending before I see the money, but also just making long-term investments.”

As well as her WNBA salary, Reese earns endorsements through her brand deals with Hershey’s, Reebok, Beats by Dre, Goldman Sachs, and Topps, alongside hosting her own podcast and selling merchandise. The 22-year-old is also the co-owner of soccer team DC Power FC in the USL Super League.
It appears that Reese’s investment with DC Power is the start of her off-court dream as she added she wants to own her own team and a modeling agency. “For basketball, to win the WNBA championship. Off the court, I wanna own a team and I wanna own a modeling agency,” Reese continued. Stating her motivation is that she wants “women to just be empowered because we always get less, we never get the full potential of everything.”
Reese continued to divulge her aspirations of owning her own basketball team, explaining she wants to grow the sport. “There are so many women that I play with in my whole career that deserve a spot in this league because women do deserve it. Like facilities like this, every woman should be able to step in and be able to go into a locker room and be able to have a safe space or go into a gym at three o’clock in the morning when they wanna do that,” she said.

However, Reese has been incredibly vocal and critical of the wages that the WNBA are paying, stating on an Instagram live this week that her wages aren’t helping her pay any bills. The Sky star earned $73,469 after being selected as the seventh overall pick of the 2024 WNBA draft, but she claimed that she doesn’t know her WNBA salary.
“Hating pays my bills, baby,” Reese said in the scathing video. “The WNBA doesn’t pay my bills at all. I don’t even think that pays one of my bills. Literally, I’m trying to think of my rent for where I stay at. I’m gonna do the math real quick. I don’t even know my [WNBA] salary. I’m living beyond my means. My rent is more than that, it’s $8,000.”
The Sky star was one of the highest-paid players in college basketball with LSU and revealed she gives back to her community to help young players looking to forge a journey like hers. “I have a foundation, that’s something that I’ve also created. I make a donation every year to my high school, where I pay for a scholarship every year,” she said.
