Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams are almost completely on the same page already after the latter was traded to the New York Jets this week, and Rodgers said the veteran wideout looks good.

“His knowledge of the game is pretty extensive,” he told reporters. “Obviously, looks like he drank the elixir from the fountain of youth as I watched some of his clips. We went back and watched some old 2014 stuff, when he was a rookie, and I lovingly call him ‘Fat Tae,’ because he was over 220 [pounds]. Then he got real serious about his diet and his health and got down to under 210, speed came back, and became the dynamic player that he is today.”

Slim Tae, meanwhile, is pleased with his new situation.

“It’s been a roller coaster, for sure. It’s a weird thing to say that I’m happy, but obviously it was time for a change,” Adams told reporters. “This whole thing transpired a little weird, but at the end of the day, we’re in a better place. I think that the Las Vegas Raiders are in a better place, as well. Everybody can kinda move on.”

In particular, Adams is happy to be reunited with Rodgers, who he paired with at the start of his career with the Green Bay Packers to great success.

“It’s great just being back, being able to be with my guy,” he said. “First and foremost, just being able to spend time with him everyday again is something that I put a lot of value on. Just having his company, but obviously having him as my quarterback again, he’s part of why I am who I am and why I turned into the player. Whether it’s the cerebral approach, it’s the attention to detail, just learning from him and watching him operate and just how dialed he is in at all times, I feel like that has a lot to do with how I ultimately ended up functioning the way I do as a player.”

The Jets acquired Adams for a conditional third-round pick in 2025 that will become a second-rounder if Adams either is selected as a first- or second-team All-Pro or is on the team’s active roster if it appears in the AFC Championship Game or Super Bowl.

In either case, the Jets would probably be more than happy to give up the better pick if he meets those criteria. The team could use the help—at 2-4, New York is trying to salvage its season. The addition of Adams should aid, significantly, in that effort.
