BREAKING NEWS: Jon Rahm expresses interest in signing a top Tour star to LIV Golf after revealing his shortlist, hinting at potential changes in the competitive landscape of professional golf.giang

Jon Rahm has revealed he has his eyes on signing a player in DP World Tour action at this week’s Andalucia Masters to complete his Legion XIII roster for the 2025 LIV Golf season.

Rahm formed his Legion franchise earlier this year having made the move to the LIV setup for the 2024 campaign. He has however already lost one of his four founding members after his now-former teammate Kieran Vincent was relegated from the league after finishing in the drop zone.

The former world No. 1 now has five months in which to find his replacement, and Rahm is already on the lookout, especially when making his return to the DP World Tour this week for the Andalucia Masters.

Discussing his offseason negotiations, Rahm told Spanish outlet Golf Sin Etiquetas in his native tongue: “I still don’t have a player who is already signed but we have six or seven in mind.” The LIV star also revealed one of those on his wish list is in the field in Spain this week.

Not only is Rahm looking to add to his playing rota, but the Legion XIII captain is also keen to expand his franchise commercially. The 2024 LIV champion admitted he is also keen to bring on board his equipment sponsor Callaway as part of the Legion XIII product.

In all, Rahm’s season on and off the golf course has been a turbulent one ever since making the Saudi switch late last year. Having competed on the breakaway circuit throughout 2024, Rahm had put his Ryder Cup future at risk, with the Spanish star required to play four DP World Tour events before the end of the year to remain eligible.

Prior to last month’s Spanish Open, Rahm was still required to tick three events off his tally but remained unsure if he was able to do so. Having competed in ‘conflicting’ LIV events, the three-time Ryder Cupper was issued fines and suspensions from the DP World Tour.

Per Tour rules, Rahm was required to settle his sanctions before returning and completing his four-event quota. Clearly unhappy, however, the Spaniard revealed he had no plans to pay the money he owed. “I’m not a big fan of the fines,” he said at LIV Chicago in September.

“I think I’ve been outspoken about that. I don’t intend to pay the fines, and we keep trying to have a discussion with them about how we can make this happen.” He has however since been able to make a return, having followed in the footsteps of his teammate Tyrrell Hatton, appealing the sanctions.

This allowed him to compete in the Spanish Open, before also playing in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland earlier this month. Rahm will then complete his requirements with the all-important start No. 4 in Andalucia this week.
