The New York Jets have finalized their deal with the Las Vegas Raiders to bring in superstar wide receiver Davante Adams to the team – reuniting him with Aaron Rodgers.
The Jets have now brought in three of Rodgers‘ former receivers from his team with the Green Bay Packers, after signing both Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard last year, while adding Adams – the receiver who he’s thrown the most touchdown passes to throughout his legendary career.
Rodgers had already spoken on the potential of the team bringing in Adams, who had requested a trade away from the struggling Raiders and now lands with his former quarterback.

Speaking to reporters earlier this month, Rodgers said: “I don’t know how much I can say about it because of tampering, but I still have a close friendship with him. We spend time in the offseason together. He’s a great guy and a great player. The rest of that is out of my hands.”
Adams will be expected to come in and immediately be the number-one receiver for the Jets, despite having an emerging superstar in Garrett Wilson.
After a slow start to the season, Wilson has now recorded back-to-back 100-yard games and is inside the top 15 in the NFL for receiving yards. But the Adams trade will certainly take targets away from him and could drastically hinder his production.

Despite this, Wilson had spoken on the possibility of the Jets acquiring Adams earlier this season, as he told the team he’s always open to great players joining the team. He: “I see that. I’m excited. I’m with all of it. Anyone we can get into the facility to help this team win games, I’m with it and he is one of those.”
The trade looks to be a big risk for the Jets, who will be going all-in on their current roster, with little room to make improvements in the future due to Adams’ cap.
The Jets have agreed to take on all of Adams’ contract, with the receiver set to cost $35 million in 2025 and $36 million in 2026 – making him the highest-paid receiver in the league by salary cap hit.
