Colorado head coach Deion Sanders demonstrated his ruthless streak as he called out son Shilo for his “horrible” performance in the team’s defeat to Kansas State.
The Buffaloes fell to an agonizing 28-31 loss in front of a capacity home crowd at at Folsom Field, despite leading proceedings with just over three minutes remaining. Eventually, the Wildcats rallied to secure a crucial result on the road, with Jayce Brown’s 50-yard touchdown earning them the victory.
Following the game, “Prime Time” admitted that he was dissatisfied with the showing from his eldest son as he reflected on a tough day at the office. Shilo ended the game with seven tackles but also faced the ignominy of being the subject of a viral clip after he fell to his knees after one play involving opposition star DJ Giddens.

At the time of writing, the video in question gained over 928k views on Twitter/X after the moment was captured by ESPN. Speaking about the safety’s performance, his father admitted: “I thought he played horrible. I thought he was rusty. I thought he didn’t have his footing. But he’s gonna do better.”
Meanwhile, the player’s sibling Shedeur had more joy, throwing for 290 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. Following the clash, he said: “It was aight. There was definitely some sacks I shouldn’t have took, some reads that I gotta make. I’ll watch the film and see where I can improve because I don’t think anyone ever plays a perfect game and I didn’t play a perfect game.”
Meanwhile, their father Deion was left ruing costly injuries on the night, with Travis Hunter and Jimmy Horn among those picking up knocks. He said: “Certainly, losing Travis and Jimmy and others was tremendous because they’re a vital part of our team, vital part of our identity; they’re a vital part of who we are.

“So that took a blow… That look a lot out of us. But other guys had the opportunity to step up and they did. So I’m proud of them,” he continued, adding: “We didn’t tackle well today, whatsoever. We didn’t get to the ball as a unit today, whatsoever. We had some busts and a few things.
Giving his verdict on the game itself, the former NFL stalwart said: “I’m telling you, I hear the calls, and (defensive coordinator Robert Livingston) called a pretty darn good game. He called a really good game, and we just got to execute the calls.”
He added: “Sometimes when you lose in life, you get your butt kicked and you’ve just got to take. Sometimes you lose, you say, ‘Dang, we should’ve won that. We should’ve had that’. That was one of those types of games. That’s not taking anything away from our opponents because they played their butts off.”
