Sunday Night Football would not be the same without hearing the voice of former American Idol winner Carrie Underwood – singing the theme song prior to the prime-time game beginning every year since 2013.
Underwood‘s career has flourished over the past 20 years since the show, becoming one of the best-selling artists of all time while winning three Grammy Awards and being the female with the most number-one singles in the United States.
This has seen her net worth rise to a reported $120 million – building a 400-acre home in Tennessee with her family while continuing to put out music.

For the last 11 years, Underwood has sung the theme song, which is slightly amended each year, for NBC’s Sunday Night Football – with reports suggesting that she makes as much as $1 million per week that the theme song is played prior to a game.
However, she has already stated that this is not the case. In a 2023 interview with Howard Stern, Underwood said that she essentially provided the theme track for free.

Stern asked her: “And the money ain’t bad. Is it true that you make $18 million a year ($1m per week),” before she laughed and responded: “For me? No! No! It’s pretty pro-bono. I wish I got that, that’d be great!”
Underwood went on to state that she essentially still agrees to sing the theme for the honor of being a part of Sunday Night Football – watched by over 20 million in the United States alone per week.
Pop singer Pink was the first to sing the theme song for Sunday Night Football in 2007, before she was replaced the following season by Faith Hill taking over – with the idea being for a new singer each and every year.
However, Hill would continue to sing the theme up until 2013, when Underwood became the voice of the song, which she still is today.
The 41-year-old is married to former NHL star Mike Fisher, who played for the Ottawa Senators and Nashville Predators before retiring after the 2018 season.
