SPORT NEWS: Caitlin Clark’s Offseason Mood Revived by Swig Manager as the WNBA Finals Commence, Highlighting Her Competitive Spirit and Determination .giang

As the Minnesota Lynx and the New York Liberty are poised to commence the 2024 WNBA Finals on Thursday night, the rest of the league remains fully ensconced in the offseason.

The Indiana Fever were eliminated from the playoffs in the first round after losing both of their games to the Connecticut Sun. However, that didn’t stop Caitlin Clark and Lexie Hull from enjoying their offseason.

Hull captured the duo on her TikTok taste-testing drinks at Swig, a popular midwestern soda-chain drive-through. “Come with us to try Swig for the first time,” Hull said. After they ordered drinks, the server said “You’re Caitlin Clark, right?” The Indiana Fever star cooly responded, “Mmm, maybe.”

As Clark and Hull were hand-delivered their drinks, a manager offered them a golden mug. “Every time you come by you get a free drink,” he said.

The pair taste-tested four drinks, including the Spring Fling (with vanilla cream instead of coconut cream) and the Beach Wave), to varying levels of satisfaction. “This will give you a cavity,” Hull said of one. “This just tastes like an icee,” Clark pointed out.

Clark captured 66 of 67 votes to win the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year. She averaged 19.2 points, a league-high 8.4 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game to lead the Fever to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

Clark finished fourth in the MVP voting and became the first rookie in league history to capture a WNBA Conference Player of the Month honor. Hull, the sixth pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft, averaged a career-high 5.5 points for the Fever this season after shifting to a bench role following the team’s addition of Clark.

The pair had synergy all season both on and off the court. Clark hit Hull with a three-quarter court bullet pass against the Minnesota Lynx on August 26th for an easy layup.

After an Aug. 28 win over the Connecticut Sun, Hull said she tries to “Get my hands on as many balls as I could” in the postgame press conference. Clark, sitting next to Hull, put her hands over her face and laughed. “I tried to hold it in,” she said.

While both will be back in Indiana for certain next season, the status of star forward Kelsey Mitchell is still up on the air. The 28-year-old is an unrestricted free agent after finishing a three-year deal with the team.

“I look at just, really, how her and Kelsey work together and the efficiency of the offense because of the way that she plays the game,” said team president Kelly Krauskopf. “I would think that would be a big draw. I think it’s an easy picture to paint to free agents.”
