Elon Musk immersed himself in the culture of western Pennsylvania Sunday night after attending a campaign rally for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in the Pittsburgh suburb of Butler. Following the rally, Musk made an appearance at Acrisure Stadium for the highly anticipated Sunday night game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys.
From the comfort of his luxury suite, the tech billionaire was seen enthusiastically waving the Steelers’ iconic Terrible Towel before the game kicked off.
The moment was captured on video and quickly spread across social media platforms, with the clip first being shared by the America Organization, a conservative political action committee founded by Musk to support Trump’s re-election bid.
Musk himself reposted the video on his X account (formerly Twitter) with the simple caption, “Go Steelers!!”
In line with his recent political messaging, Musk sported a black variant of Donald Trump’s signature “Make America Great Again” hat, a visual nod to the “Dark MAGA” theme he introduced during Trump’s rally in Butler the previous evening. Musk’s embrace of Dark MAGA, a fringe movement that surfaced in 2022, calls for Trump to adopt a more aggressive and uncompromising approach to his 2024 re-election campaign. At the rally, Musk leaned into the persona, donning an all-black outfit and a T-shirt emblazoned with the words “Occupy Mars.”
“As you can see, I’m not just MAGA—I’m Dark MAGA,” Musk declared to the Butler crowd, making it clear that he was aligning himself with this more hardline faction of Trump’s supporters.
Musk’s appearance at the Steelers-Cowboys game also marked another moment where he expressed his support for a Pennsylvania sports team.
Earlier in the year, Musk briefly showed his support for the Philadelphia Eagles ahead of their Super Bowl LVII matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, tweeting “Go Eagles” before the game. However, he quietly deleted the tweet after the Chiefs pulled off a thrilling 38-35 victory.

Musk wasn’t the only notable figure cheering for the Steelers that night. Joining him at Acrisure Stadium was legendary rapper and pop culture icon Snoop Dogg, who proudly donned the team’s black-and-gold gear. Snoop, though not originally from Pittsburgh, has been an outspoken fan of the Steelers for years. His connection to the team stems from his admiration of their 1970s dynasty, a time when the Steelers’ gritty defense and hard-hitting style captivated football fans across the country.
During an appearance on ESPN’s “ManningCast” with Peyton and Eli Manning, Snoop Dogg explained his unexpected love for the Steelers. “In the ’70s, watching your dad [Archie Manning] play, and seeing the Steelers, the Raiders, and the Cowboys—those teams were incredible,” Snoop said. “I fell in love with their defense and the way they played the game. As I got older, I met some of the players—Coach [Bill] Cowher, Ben Roethlisberger, Jerome Bettis—and I really became a part of Steeler Nation.”
While Snoop’s Steelers fandom is widely known, Musk’s appearance with the Terrible Towel surprised many.
Nevertheless, both figures made their presence known, adding to the excitement surrounding the Cowboys-Steelers matchup, even as the game itself took a backseat to the high-profile attendees cheering from the stands.
