In a recent episode of Not Just Football with Cam Heyward, Olympic gymnastics legend Simone Biles surprised fans by naming Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes as her favorite NFL player—ranking him even above her own husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens. Although Biles has always been a staunch supporter of Owens, she couldn’t help but be in awe of Mahomes’ extraordinary skills on the field.
Biles acknowledged Owens’ impressive journey as an undrafted player who is now thriving in his seventh NFL season. However, when asked about her favorite player outside of her husband, she didn’t hesitate to share her admiration for Mahomes. “Besides my husband, I really think we always go back to Patrick Mahomes,” she told Heyward during the podcast.
She went on to describe Mahomes as a “freak of nature,” praising his uncanny ability to execute seemingly impossible plays and lead his team to victory, often in dramatic fashion. “The Chiefs could be down, and he’s just a miracle worker,” Biles said. With a hint of humor, she added, “He’d probably kill me for saying that or admitting it, at least,” recognizing that her high praise for Mahomes might surprise Owens.
Biles’ candid admiration for Mahomes showcases not only her appreciation for incredible athletic talent but also the friendly rivalry that can exist even among sports couples. It’s clear that Mahomes has made a lasting impression, not just on fans, but on fellow athletes like Biles as well.
